چکیده

Suspended particle matter (SPM) includes phytoplankton and non-coloring Suspended particle matter. Its concentrations, size, distribution is very complex, and so it has not strict theory to describe the matter character. The method of using remote sensing technology to monitor water quality by obtaining the suspended particulate matter (SPM) concentration was studied in this paper, and the inversion of SPM from remote sensing image was respectively introduced based on an analytic model and empirical model. The analytic model mainly focus on the problems above, making use of equivalent sphere Mie scattering theory, and the paper analyzes the scattering characteristics of water suspended particles. At first, we promote a formula to calculate scattering coefficient of suspended particles using scattering efficiency factor. This will solve the inaccuracy problems to calculate the scattering efficiency of phytoplankton and non-algal particles, and it can analyze the characteristics of scattering coefficient effectively. Then, the formulas of back scattering efficiency of phytoplankton and non-algal particles will be deduced using scattering phase function. These can accurately calculate the back scattering efficiency of suspended particles, and analyze the characteristics of back scattering coefficient effectively. Fusion of Landsat-8/OLI and GOCI Data for Hourly Mapping of Suspended Particulate Matter at High Spatial Resolution: A Case Study in the Yangtze (Changjiang) Estuary

Suspended particulate matter (SPM) concentrations ([SPM]) in the Yangtze estuary, which has third-order bifurcations and four outlets, exhibit large spatial and temporal variations. Studying the characteristics of these variations in [SPM] is important for understanding sediment transport and pollutant diffusion in the estuary as well as for the construction of port and estuarine engineering st...

Deriving inherent optical properties and associated inversion-uncertainties in the Dutch Lakes

Remote sensing of water quality in inland waters requires reliable retrieval algorithms, accurate atmospheric correction and consistent method for uncertainty estimation. In this paper, the GSM semi-analytical inversion model is modified for inland waters to derive inherent optical properties (IOPs) and their spectral dependencies from air and space borne data. The modified model was validated ...

A study on the composition of size-fractionated suspended particulate matter in shallow coastal waters of Chabahar Bay

Abstract In the present study, sampling and analysis of size-fractionated suspended particulate matter (SPM) in coastal waters of Chabahar Bay have been done for the first time. Sampling has been conducted on December 25 of 2018 from 5 stations in different locations of the Bay in order to evaluate the effects of natural and human activities on SPM mass and composition. With an overall average...

Construction of Multi-Year Time-Series Profiles of Suspended Particulate Inorganic Matter Concentrations Using Machine Learning Approach

Hydro-sedimentary numerical models have been widely employed to derive suspended particulate matter (SPM) concentrations in coastal and estuarine waters. These hydro-sedimentary models are computationally and technically expensive in nature. Here we have used a computationally less-expensive, well-established methodology of self-organizing maps (SOMs) along with a hidden Markov model (HMM) to d...

Development of a Semi-Analytical Algorithm for the Retrieval of Suspended Particulate Matter from Remote Sensing over Clear to Very Turbid Waters

Remote sensing of suspended particulate matter, SPM, from space has long been used to assess its spatio-temporal variability in various coastal areas. The associated algorithms were generally site specific or developed over a relatively narrow range of concentration, which make them inappropriate for global applications (or at least over broad SPM range). In the frame of the GlobCoast project, ...
